The Rev. Mychal Judge, OFM, was the former chaplain of the New York City Fire Department, and he died while ministering to the fallen at the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001. I just came across this beautiful prayer, which he wrote.
Lord, take me where You want me to go; Let me meet who You want me to meet; Tell me what You want me to say, and Keep me out of Your way.
What an interesting story! Since I was overseas, I really didn't hear anything about Father Mychal (cannonized a saint by the Orthodox American Catholic Church?). At any rate a great prayer. I especially like the ending. :)
Most of the world first heard of Mychal Judge on September 11, 2001, especially through the famous photo of his body being carried out of Ground Zero by his beloved firefighters.
But what most people don't realize is that his whole life and ministry were as heroic as his death. Prior to 9/11, many in New York considered him a living saint. He would just laugh at the notion, but many thousands who encountered him will tell you that Father Mychal Judge is proof of the existence of God.
